Yes, we know, we're a smartphone/tablet-centric website, but the 3DS gives us an opportunity to get a sneak peek into the very near future of glasses-free 3D gaming on a mobile display. Sprint will be releasing the HTC EVO 3D this summer and AT&T will be unleashing the LG Thrill 4G (Optimus 3D) in the "coming months." At least one of those devices (maybe both) houses a display made by Sharp, the manufacturer responsible for the 3D screen on the Nintendo 3DS. Naturally, Sharp's Galapagos 3D phone uses their in-house technology as well. We've been saying from the very beginning that 3D will be huge on smartphones, especially in the gaming department. Now that speculation has turned to reality with multiple 3D phones coming soon, it's time to take the previously dubbed "gimmick" seriously. The 3DS gives us an opportunity to see how well 3D gaming performs on a small mobile display. It also affords us the chance to see if consumers actually dig the extra dimension, even with the limitation of poor viewing angles, after an extended period of time. Here we simply show you the goods inside the box, which includes a sweet charging dock, and then take you on a tour of the hardware. In a followup video, we'll talk about our lengthy experiences with a few 3D games and how we think it will translate to the smartphone world. First impressions ...

They are the leading provider of Flash-based user interface tools and middleware for video games and consumer electronics. I usually agree that Middleware is boring but it is a UI for No Glasses 3D and what is interesting is the Tegra Tablets are on their roadmap, phones are first but Tegra tablets are definitely there. Scaleform GFx combines the performance of hardware accelerated 3D graphics technology with Adobe Flash tools to rapidly create immersive 3D UI. So when gaming companies are ready, they'll have this middleware to help bring us games just a little bit quicker.

I did the below on my LG but any passive 3D TV will be able to do this. * Pop the right lense out on one and left one out on the other. I say pop because you simply need small screwdriver or nail as i used and the inner seal pops right out and just take lense out. (LG party pack) * Setup Tv ready for testing...I used black ops split screen, then choose 3D top / bottom. * swap the lenses over to the other glasses, not turned round or anything **important** to confirm youve got pair matched correctly test on the TV by holding up you'll get a clear 2D picture. Hold up other glasses and lense and youll get a different clear picture. * I just then carefully trimmed the lenses so they'd fit in and they still fill the hole completely. * click the lense holder back around and your done. Now with LG's technology regarding its 3D mode and way it does 4 frames in the 120hz band (this is how it got full 3d HD accreditation) you get 1080i graphics so looks fine and no major loss in detail......its worth it for the private part knowing that the person on the other screen cant see your screen. Please give thumbs up if ive helped or your impressed. Many companies will be selling this on next yrs TV's i expect which will be more refined, but todays tv's can do it.
