This is a Single Image Random Dot Stereogram (SIRDS) to be viewed with the parallel-eye technique. I made a tutorial for - cross-eye - viewing here: www.youtube.com Parallel eye is basically the same, just look -through- the screen, not in front of it. You can also find a cross-eye version of this movie here: www.youtube.com It was very hard to get this online in 720p... Obviously Youtube did have problems in converting this file. I am still not satisfied with the quality, but I admit these patterns are death for any compressor. If you did not succeed, or you are unable to see 3D due to eye disabilities, you can find the solution here: www.youtube.com Important: Although it is a myth that your eyes can get stuck, it surely is not healthy for your eyes if you stress them too much. Be aware of any symptoms of that. Pain in any form is a good indicator. This may happen to you even if you have had no previous medical history of epilepsy or seizures. Next week at Siggraph in LA, Sony will be demonstrating the prototype of a new 360º Autostereoscopic display. The display allows you to view full colour volumetric objects from all angles, as if objects really exist. The display uses special LED light forces and can show 360 unique images to all directions in 1º separations. And no special 3D glasses are required to see the image!

It wouldn't be CES without Stream TV showing off more interesting glasses-free 3D technology and then launching, um, nothing into the wide market. Hopefully that won't happen this time, now that the company has paired with OEM panel-makers Pegatron and Hisense, and is now showing off its technology in UltraHD 4k. It has a proprietary system for encoding 2D and 3D video using occlusion, which is delivered to standard panels that have been retrofitted with its optical glass sandwich to bring the spec-less 3D illusion to viewers. This year, it added all-new algorithms that can handle native UHDTV content or up-res HD to 4k, both in non-realtime for quality, or realtime to convert standard 2D TV to 3D on-the-fly.
